Principal’s Message

September 2019

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year in what promises to be another year filled with opportunities and learning.  I extend a very warm welcome to the new and returning students and families in our community.

It is an honour to introduce myself as principal of St. James Catholic School.  As a Catholic school leader, I am looking forward to working in partnership with you in making this a successful year for our students as church, parents, community, and school endeavour together to provide an excellent Catholic education for all our students.

The school, through the highly dedicated St. James staff, promotes high standards of academic excellence where the Gospel values permeate the curriculum and daily activities. St. James is an inclusive and collaborative learning community.  It is a school where all are welcome and where we support the learning of the whole child.

Our Catholic School Advisory Council is very active and supportive of all school initiatives. We are blessed to have a wonderful partnership with St. James Parish, which supports and fosters the spiritual development of our students.  We strive to fulfill the school mission where “joined together – children, staff, and parents – we celebrate our learning and traditions with faith, family, and friends in a meaningful and fun way.”

Our families are informed of school activities through the “Week at a Glance” (WAAG) that is emailed to parents/guardians and posted on the school website.  We also have a Facebook page and Twitter account, both of which can be accessed from the school website.  So, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to keep up to date on all the exciting activities at St. James!

Many blessings for a successful school year,

Dianne De Jong
